A Tour of North Mayo – Ancient Monasteries, Holy Wells and the Wild Atlantic
This full day tour takes you through many layers of Irish history. We will be visiting an early Christian holy well and church, a stone age field system buried under 10ft of bog, a medieval monastery and a round tower built in the 11th century. You will see the power of the Atlantic in shaping our coastline and hear stories of the landing of the French in 1798 and the legend of the Children of Lir. The scenery on this tour is magnificent particularly on the Belmullet peninsula where trees do not grow so you can see for miles and miles. This is just a sample of the many things to see in north Mayo. There will be lots of photo-stops to allow you to capture your memories of this interesting area.
Cost: €500 for up to six people.
